Sigiriya

Sigiriya, also known as Lion Rock, is one of the most iconic landmarks in Sri Lanka. Rising nearly 200 meters above the surrounding plains, this ancient rock fortress is a masterpiece of engineering, art, and history.

Built during the reign of King Kashyapa in the 5th century, Sigiriya served as a royal palace and stronghold. The site is famous for its stunning frescoes, beautifully landscaped gardens, and the impressive Lion’s Gate—where a massive lion structure once guarded the entrance to the summit.

Climbing Sigiriya is a unique experience. As you ascend, you’ll pass through ancient stairways, mirror walls, and breathtaking viewpoints. At the top, visitors are rewarded with panoramic views of lush greenery stretching for miles.

Today, Sigiriya is recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site and attracts travelers from all over the world. It stands as a symbol of Sri Lanka’s rich cultural heritage and architectural brilliance.
